I understand how difficult it can be to live with excessive underarm sweating, constantly having to hold your arms close by your side, change your shirt several times a day and feeling overly self-conscious in social situations. Below I have outlined some simple strategies so you can understand how to stop underarm sweating through natural methods and help you banish armpit sweating for good.

The medical term for excessive underarm sweating is axillary hyperhidrosis and the armpits are notorious for severe sweating. Even though this condition is incredibly common, very few people know how to manage or successfully overcome this condition.


 

When trying to discover how to stop underarm sweating some people even opt for expensive and risky surgical options. However, although surgery for this condition has a reasonable success rate it should always be considered the final option as it poses a significant risk of unwanted side effects. Instead, natural remedies should always be favoured as these are safer and can work just as well as surgery but without the expense or unwanted side-effects. Below is an overview of some of the natural strategies you can use to overcome and prevent underarm sweating immediately.

Many of those that live with excessive underarm sweating scrub that the armpit area excessively with soap whilst bathing in an attempt to banish body odour and prevent further sweating. Unfortunately by doing this you are clogging the pores in the armpits which can actually make your sweating problem worse. Clogging the pores in the armpit area means they can’t ‘breathe’ and this can trigger a further sweat response.

Of course, you don’t need to completely eliminate the use of soap in the underarm area, just don’t apply or use excessively and rather opt for a soap comprised of natural only natural ingredients and use sparingly. An alternative to soap and a method that has been proven to help reduce excessive underarm sweat is exfoliation with a loofah. This clears the pores and seems to work well as a method of how to stop underarm sweating.

Most antiperspirants and deodorants are intended for use by people who sweat an average amount (‘normal sweaters’) and not for those that suffer from excessive armpit sweating. Not only do these antiperspirants and deodorants contain a vast array of chemicals ingredients which will irritate your skin but actually contribute very little to preventing underarm sweating.

A great alternative to these antiperspirants and deodorants is natural oils such as lavender as these provide a clean, fresh and pleasant smell that lasts for hours on end and are far safer and less irritant to the skin.

These two simple strategies of switching from soap to an exfoliation method and from antiperspirants/deodorants to natural oils really can make a big difference quickly and I recommend you implement them into your daily bathing routine to see if they work for you.

There are also some other strategies you can try in addition to the strategies outlined above:

  • You can try applying a little baking soda to the underarm area and this works best when the armpit area has been shaved and free of hair. You can mix the baking soda with water to form a thick paste which can be applied to the armpit area. This can be left in situ for around 10 to 15 minutes and then simply wash away. This method works well as the baking soda actively absorbs sweat and dries out the area; both of which contribute to and can help reducing body odour.
  • Vinegar may also be used to help combat underarm sweat as it helps to both kill any nasty bacteria and dry the area out. If you apply some a little vinegar to the underarm area then stand with the arms wide by your side and allow the area to dry the area you should instantly notice your armpits will feel dry and there should be no more body odour. This can be done before you go to bed but make sure to give your armpits a thorough wash in the morning to prevent any irritation. This method can be used frequently depending on how successful it is for you.
